Company Overview

Sierra Microwave Technology was founded in 1985 in Sacramento, California. The company, from the beginning, developed a reputation for producing very reliable parts for the military and space industries. Very wide frequency bands, low loss performance, and exceptional quality were what set Sierra apart from its competitors.

In 1992, Sierra relocated to Georgetown, Texas to take advantage of the lower operating cost in that region. Sierra spun off its amplifier group prior to moving to Texas. This allowed a concentration on the product lines which had always formed the core of Sierra’s business: Isolators, Circulators, Equalizers, Filters, and Pin-Diode Switches. Our 20,000 square foot facility was designed to optimize productivity and a heavy investment in CAD, manufacturing, and test equipment together with Sierra’s advanced designs helped us develop our reputation as a supplier of parts of the highest quality and performance. Our quality program conforms to MIL-45208A and MIL-STD-45662A.

In December of 2003, HEICO Corporation acquired a controlling share of Sierra Microwave Technology.  HEICO is a technology-driven aerospace, defense and electronics company. For more than 40 years, HEICO has served these industries with innovative products and services.  HEICO’s products are found on most large commercial aircraft produced today, on many regional and business aircraft, as well as on a large variety of military aircraft, targeting systems, missiles and electro-optical devices.  With approximately $200 Million in annual sales and over 1200 employees, HEICO brings tremendous financial strength to Sierra.
Sierra is part of HEICO’s Electronic Technologies Group which produces electrical and electro-optical systems/components serving niche segments of the space, aircraft, defense, communications, and computer industries. HEICO’s Electronic Technologies Group focuses on quality, service, and dependability for our valued customers.  The Electronic Technologies Group specializes in designing and manufacturing state-of-the-art products with unique electronic architectures. The group operates at five facilities in Texas, California and Florida where more than 40 engineers and approximately 300 other Team Members continuously design and upgrade a wide array of proprietary products.
